WELCOME TO COBB MOUNTAIN LOCATED IN BEAUTIFUL NORTHERN CALIFORNIA!

Land of blue skies, spring waters, lush forests and mountain vistas or as once was said: Behold the Land “Which was hid of old in the west”! Cobb Mountain at 4,720ft is the tallest mountain in the Mayacamas Mountains of Northern California being a part of the Inner Coastal Range. Cobb Mountain straddles Lake and Sonoma Counties with most of the mountain and the main summit being located in Lake County. Located 2-1/2 hours from San Francisco, one hour from Santa Rosa and 30 mins from Calistoga. The Cobb Area is unique in Lake County with its high altitude (around 2500’) and lush alpine forests comprising: ponderosa pine, sugar pine, dogwood, madrone, fir and oak trees. With four distinctive seasons including the cooler temperatures in the summer and it’s dustings of snow in the winter months, the beautiful spring time and gorgeous colors of fall – Cobb is always beautiful at anytime of the year. Like the rest of Lake County, the Cobb area was once home to many flourishing resorts in the mid 1800’s and early 1900’s: Hoberg’s Resort , Adams Springs, Harbin Hot Springs, and Anderson Springs to name some of the most popular. Many visiting for the therapeutic benefits of the natural thermal waters and fresh mountain air. Hobergs was well known for its Big Band events held during the summer months under the clear mountain skies. Not only rich in beauty but also history -the American Indian’s lived in Lake County going back 12,000 years with much of their activity being located around Clearlake - California’s largest natural lake. The first Europeans came via Fort Ross then in the 1800’s the area was settled by members of the Bear Flag Rebellion and other pioneers coming west via the Donner Trail and Yountville then up the mountains into Lake County. While Cobb Mountain itself was not so accessible the Cobb Valley area was a slice of heaven for the first European settlers including John Cobb who homesteaded in the valley in 1853. Today Cobb offers a charming town with a post office, food market, coffee shop, several restaurants, 2 golf courses, several swimming pools and a motel along with a peaceful life style for the locals and a sanctuary for visitors. The small town of Cobb lays nestled into the mountain and includes the areas of Whispering Pines, Gifford Springs, Pinegrove, the Hobergs, and Adams Springs to Loch Lomond. Locals and visitors alike get to enjoy the 3500 acre Boggs State Forest with its spring fed creeks, two campgrounds and 22 miles of dirt roads making it a wonderful recreational area for hiking, biking and horseback riding. As far as buying property in the Cobb Area there are different housing options available from the small, knotty pine cabins of the 50’s to the more contemporary and larger style homes built most recently. There is also the option to purchase an acreage property or land. It’s not too difficult to find a special location with mountain vistas, on a creek, close to a golf course or backing the forest!
